this is cammie's first draft artist statement

My paintings are about lust, thirst, and passion. They are a visual representation of sexual desire. Being a young woman myself I have become aware of the simple, but amazing power I was born with. That power, may it be subtle or blatant, is the power of female sexuality. Women are masters of the art of seduction. They know how to move, how to dress, how to act and what to wear or not wear to get what they want. Women have been using their sexuality for their own gain since the creation of man. This gender play is fascinating to me and I aim to study it through my art. I use femininity in my work through the study of lingerie and its relationship to the body. I choose to paint delicate fabrics and lace with intricate detail, but I represent these patterns in my own Matissian like style. I choose a very bright color pallet, using a lot of pinks and oranges. These colors are to enhance the sexual nature of the images. The figure is also an important element to my work. I use idealized images of women with impossible proportions. I show these women with purposeful gazes, dominate posture, and sometimes just shear delight. The women I create are not apologizing for their behavior. Other women may think they are sluty, promiscuous, or disgusting, but these women find too much delighted in their own sexuality to care. Both my colors and my women are bold. They are no nonsense take what they want. There is a duality between women and men, and the idea of men wanting women and women wanting men to want them, is something that I want to play with in my art. I want to show men as powerless to women. I want to show men as lacking the ability to control themselves in the presence of desire, like a starving man being offered a smorgasbord of desert. I think of the women I paint in the form of cookies and cupcakes. They are something you want to eat for every meal, but you know it will upset your stomach and rot your teeth.
