for those who don't know, i live a few miles from my parents and eat there all the time. i don't stay much longer than dinner. anyway this just happened... oh man, this is too good:
mom:, "you know, you can stay longer here if you want. you don't have to leave right away after dinner. i don't have to talk to you at all but just because knowing you're here makes me feel good. oh, but you don't care?"

oh i was so absent minded. it was so funny to me (in case you can't tell there's an italicized part in my mom's convo which you should reference) because my parents don't really talk to me when i'm home. they just watch tv. they don't even sit at the table. so she's like, even though i don't talk to you, i still like knowing you're around.
