Belgian soccer team suffers 50-1 loss
The Belgian women's soccer team SK Berlaar was forced to absorb a 50-1
loss against rival KV Mechelen on Saturday in large part because their
top goalkeeper decided to attend a concert instead, according to a Het
Laatste Nieuws report.
"Our keeper went to Pukkel Pop. That's why," substitute goalkeeper
Charlotte Jacobs told the Belgian newspaper on Monday.
KV Mechelen managed to score their first goal just four seconds into the game.
Jacobs seemed to try to look on the bright side following the sorry defeat.
"At halftime the score was 27-0. But after halftime we were able to
recover," she said. "We had to stomach only 23 goals and we scored
once ourselves, right at the end. They allowed us to score. That was
sweet of them."
